It has been a great start for the chapter this year. We had one of the highest attendances on record for the September meeting addressed by Dr. Harvey Rosenblum of the Dallas Fed. Of course, this did not happen without considerable organized effort. As the incoming president, I want to thank Paul Mason, my predecessor, and all of last year’s officers and board members for their on-going contributions. Without the solid work of these volunteers we would not have the active chapter we do. I know my colleagues on the incoming board are as keen to help our chapter flourish and grow as I am.
Our priorities for the year will, for the most part, build on the successful policies of the past. First, we aim to increase membership. Although we have one of the largest chapters in the country and one that has been recognized by FEI National for the growth and program strengths we have achieved, there are advantages to further growth. We can offer more diverse programming, attract stronger dinner speakers and gain new financial sponsors as we expand. As a point of reference, the Boston Chapter has about 1200 national members, we have about 500. With the continuing growth of business in the Dallas region we have increasing opportunities to add members. To this end, we encourage you to introduce qualified prospects to our meetings or to inform them of what we have to offer. Eric Holleman and Mike Brower of the Membership Committee or our chapter administrator Jackie Dunn can provide whatever assistance you might need pursuing this.
