event coming up on March 31 courtesy of chapter sponsor Capital One Commercial Banking.  Our members will be hosted at the American Airlines Center for a Dallas Stars hockey game versus the Sharks.  Watch for registration information by email, space will be limited.

Networking Luncheon for New Members April 20

Another networking opportunity scheduled this spring is a luncheon on April 20 at Park City Club specifically for new members*.  We encourage all new members to take advantage of this special opportunity to get to know other new members and chapter leaders in a smaller setting than our typical chapter meeting.  Invitations to this special event will go out in March.  Hope to see you there!

FERF A Pipeline for Timely and Relevant Information

The Chapter Board puts a high priority on providing member value as evidenced by our top-notch programming and abundant networking.  But I would also like to take this opportunity to emphasize the valuable resources available to members through FEI National and their research arm, the Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF).  FERF publications and executive reports are available to members at no cost and many offer CPE credit, so please take advantage of this valuable member benefit!  FERF doesn’t just repeat the headlines; financial executives can rely on FERF for critical information to keep them aware and prepared.  The Dallas Chapter has been a proud supporter of FERF for many years.

Outstanding Programming Continues in 2010-11

Have you noticed what a high quality of programming continues to come our way?  Lining up speakers for chapter programs is a complex and time-consuming job, and I would like to extend special thanks to Sharon Ellis and Jim Howe of the Program Committee, and Mahesh Shetty and Kendall Helfeinbein of the Professional Development Committee for all they do to ensure that our chapter programs continue to be first-rate.

Many chapter members have come to us in the past with excellent ideas and contacts for future programs.  We are currently lining up programs for the 2010-11 chapter year and encourage members to get in touch with any of the above leaders with your thoughts and suggestions on topics and speakers.

Chapter Meeting March 9 at Bent Tree Country Club

Our chapter dinner meeting on March 9 features Garrett Boone, Co-Founder and Emeritus of The Container Store, whose topic is “Being Green is Good for Business.”  In the professional development session, a panel comprised of representatives from chapter sponsors Whitley Penn, Capital One and Carrington Coleman Sloman & Blumenthal will discuss what the accounting, banking and legal professions have done to prevent and detect fraud.  Historically, participants have found a lot of interest and value in the panel discussion format so I encourage you to attend.

See you in March!
