Year” award.  Past honorees include CFOs from AT&T Inc.; FedEx Office; Southwest Airlines; HKS Inc.; Texas Instruments; MetroPCS Communications Inc.; and Burlington Northern Santa Fe.  This program provides many benefits to the region's business community by highlighting the growing importance of financial executives in today's corporate environment.  There are several categories to recognize large, midsize and small; public and private; charitable non profit CFOs; and recognition for community service and lifetime achievement.  Click here to nominate, and mark your calendars now for the awards luncheon on Thursday, October 14.

2010-11 Officer Elections

At the April chapter meeting, chapter members in attendance elected a new slate of officers.  Congratulations to Renee Hornbaker (incoming President), and to Derek Claybrook (First VP), Chris Loy (Second VP), Sharon Ellis (Secretary) and Eric Logan (Treasurer).  David Palmlund continues to serve as Area Director at Large.  I am confident they will do an excellent job with their responsibilities as chapter leaders.

Annual Members Golf Outing Draws Record Numbers

The chapter’s annual golf outing took place at The Tribute in Frisco in May.  Golfers and non-golfers alike enjoyed the great planning efforts, prizes, networking and dinner at the club house.  Thank you to our chapter golf sponsors and the Golf Planning Committee, Keith Krzeminski, Thomas Hook and Darin Patrizi.

Registration Open for Summer 2010 Professional Development Series

Registration is open for the chapter’s Summer Professional Development Series starting in June with programs following in July and August.  Scroll down to “Chapter Events” for details.  These morning programs have proven to be very popular since inception several years ago.  We know that summer planning can be challenging; I’d like to applaud our Professional Development leaders Mahesh Shetty and Kendall Helfenbein for the outstanding job in pulling the series together for early publication to enable members to plan ahead.  Each program provides 2 CPE credits, and members who are current on chapter dues are welcome to bring members of their financial staff who need the CPE credit at no charge.

I want to thank the External Relationships & Public Relations Committee, specifically Jim Strand and Mike Conley.  Their efforts have led our chapter’s participation in the Dallas Business Journal’s “CFO of the Year” awards, FEI’s “Volunteer Day at the North Texas Food Bank,” and the Dallas CPA Society’s Member Appreciation Day, among other endeavors .  Thanks to their focus and skills our chapter brand and exposure has reached further into the Metroplex business community and relationships have developed with strategic partners.

The Dallas Chapter continues to prosper in terms of meeting attendance, active committees, successful sponsorship program, successful professional development programs, and participation in community service.  Our developed pipeline of future officers, committee chairs and volunteers is a huge asset.  We enjoy an excellent set of programs and value for members as a result of efforts by the Board and volunteers; chapter sponsors, particularly KPMG and the strategic sponsors; and you as members.  I know for many members, 2009-10 has been a challenging year professionally and I hope the value of Chapter membership has confirmed FEI Dallas to be the organization of choice for you, the financial executive.  As I leave my position as Chapter President, my thanks and best wishes go to each of you.  Serving as President of the Chapter has been my privilege.  I look forward to seeing you at future chapter events.
