Oct. 3.  State Income Tax Disclosures:  A national update (State and Local Thinking quarterly webcast series).  2:00 p.m. Central.  1.5 CPE credits.  Presented by Grant Thornton.  State tax authorities have become increasingly active in requiring corporate taxpayers to disclose substantial amounts of tax information.  In this State and Local Thinking webcast we will provide a national update, discussing some of these developments in detail.  We will discuss:

 

n Maryland disclosure requirements: Maryland corporate taxpayers that are members of corporate groups will be required to file significant informational disclosures with the Maryland comptroller. Due dates, penalties and other substantive and procedural matters are discussed.

n Massachusetts inconsistent filing positions: Massachusetts requires taxpayers to disclose certain tax positions that it deems to be inconsistent with other state filings.

n Other multistate developments relating to disclosure: The California Franchise Tax Board is proposing a state-specific Schedule M-3 that taxpayers would be required to file starting next year. In addition, other states’ efforts in this area are examined.
